BATON ROUGE — LSU freshman Storm Warren of Monroe was named the Southeastern Conference men’s basketball Freshman of the Week for his performances against Alcorn State and Northwestern State.
Warren, 6-7 forward, averaged 7.5 points and nine rebounds in helping LSU to a 77-45 win over Alcorn State on Thursday and a 91-60 win over Northwestern State on Sunday as part of the first weekend of the LSU Invitational.
Warren had his first collegiate double double and the first of the season for any LSU Tiger with 11 points and 11 rebounds against Alcorn. In the two games, he had six steals, including four against the Braves.
LSU is 3-0 for the first time since the 2005-06 season and after three games is averaging 7.0 points per game, 7.0 rebounds and two blocked shots.
The Tigers resume play in the LSU Invitational on Friday night at 7 p.m. against Centenary and conclude the two-weekend event at 6 p.m. Sunday against Troy.
