Parking Availability Announced for ‘Tipoff Weekend’

BATON ROUGE — The LSU Athletic Department has announced parking availabilities for those fans that are coming to the campus for Saturday’s “Tipoff Weekend” of basketball that begins with the Tigers season opener at 1 p.m. in the Maravich Assembly Center with Jackson State.

Tickets are on sale for the game for just $1 as part of the “Tipoff Weekend” special at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office and online at www.LSUSports.net. LSU is also still selling season tickets starting at just $100 as part of the school’s 100th anniversary celebration of men’s basketball. Those tickets also have a guarantee of no price increase if renewed for five seasons.

The ticket windows on game day will open at the upper concourse of the Maravich Center beginning at 11:30 a.m.

It is suggested that fans coming just for the men’s basketball game park in the grass in front of Lot O and the LSU Natatorium. There will also be parking for basketball fans in the Levee Lots on River Road.

Beginning at 10 a.m. and running until game time, there will be a shuttle service to Lot A from the Levee Lots for those basketball fans showing a game ticket or basketball parking pass. Due to the large football crowd expected, there will be no return service to that lot after the game.

Lot M, as usual, will be held for those fans with handicap stickers on their vehicles.

Fans coming for the basketball game are reminded to access the campus and parking areas from the West side of the University because of the Homecoming activities and parade that will be working its way around the campus in the hours prior to the basketball game, limiting access on some streets that are normally open on game day at that time of the day.

The first 1,000 students, who are admitted to basketball games free of charge with their student ID, will be given a pass that will allow them to be first in line for admittance to the LSU-Troy football game that evening by showing the pass and a football ticket. Entertaining the crowd at halftime of the basketball game will be Krystal, the Red Panda Acrobat, who will dazzle the crowd with her tricks while riding a seven-foot unicycle.

Rally towels will be handed out to the first 1,000 fans in the Maravich Center on Saturday.

There is no television for the game, however, live streaming video will be available on LSUsports.net’s Geaux Zone.

The game will be broadcast live on the LSU Sports Radio Network and it will mark the first game on LSU basketball’s new local 100,000-watt FM flagship station “New Country 100.7 FM The Tiger.” The Guaranty Broadcast Affiliate will be the home this season of all LSU basketball games and the weekly call-in show featuring new coach Trent Johnson.
