BATON ROUGE — Game 1 of the LSU Baseball Purple-Gold World Series begins at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the original Alex Box Stadium. The three-game intrasquad series concludes LSU’s six-week fall practice session.
Game 2 is set for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and Game 3 starts at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. All games will be six innings — if a game is tied after six innings, only one extra inning will be played.
The games are open to the public, and admission is free.
“Fall practice has been outstanding for us, and the Purple-Gold World Series is a great way to wrap it up,” said LSU head coach Paul Mainieri. “I’ve been very pleased with the leadership displayed by our returning players, and it’s evident our freshmen class will make a significant impact upon our program. The games this week will be a lot of fun, but they will also provide a very competitive environment for our club.”
LSU hitting coach Javi Sanchez will serve as the head coach of the Gold team, and he will be assisted by Tigers’ equipment manager Matt Montgomery. LSU volunteer coach Will Davis will be the head coach of the Purple squad, and he will be assisted by student coach Kyle Beerbohm.
The coaches conducted a draft on Sunday night in order to form the two squads for the series. Below are the rosters for this week’s games:
