BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team has a new exclusive home for its radio programming in the Baton Rouge for the 2008-09 season on Guaranty Broadcasting’s WYPY New Country 100.7 The Tiger. All men’s basketball-related programming on the LSU Sports Radio Network will now air in Baton Rouge on 100.7 The Tiger.
The change from Eagle 98.1 FM to 100.7 FM will prevent many of the football-men’s basketball, men’s basketball-baseball conflicts that have come up in recent years on the network when all three were on the same channel, but will not lessen the listening range of the Baton Rouge area as both stations broadcast at 100,000 watts.
“We’re very excited we will be broadcasting LSU men’s basketball on New Country 100.7 FM The Tiger starting this season,” said Owen Weber, Guaranty Broadcasting’s Vice-President and General Manager. “LSU fans will now have the exact same coverage from Guaranty Broadcasting’s 100.7 FM’s 100,000-watt signal that they have come to expect, without having to worry about conflicts with other LSU Sports necessitating a move.”
In a perfect example, LSU’s season opener with Jackson State on Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. will now be able to air in its entirety on the basketball flagship, 100.7 FM, while LSU Sports Radio Network programming will air in its entirety on Eagle 98.1 on that day.
“We are pleased with this new agreement with Guaranty Broadcasting because it serves the fans of LSU athletics well,” said Ward Wyatt, general manager of LSU Sports Properties. “Now Tiger fans don’t have to miss a minute of coverage of their favorite sport on the LSU Sports Radio Network.”
The Trent Johnson Show presented by Capital One Bank, premieres on Monday night, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. live from Walk-On’s Bistro just outside the gates of LSU and will also be carried each week through the end of the regular season on 100.7 FM.
LSU women’s basketball broadcasts and coach’s radio shows will remain on WTGE 107.3 FM in Baton Rouge.
All LSU Sports Radio Network broadcasts are available available online in the Geaux Zone on LSUsports.net.
