BATON ROUGE — With just one game remaining in the regular season, the LSU soccer team will carry its ninth straight Top 20 ranking into Friday’s match against the Arkansas Razorbacks as the Tigers are ranked as high as No. 14 in this week’s Soccer America Top 25.
With a win, the Tigers can clinch their second straight SEC Western Division championship and secure the No. 2 seed in next week’s SEC Tournament to be held in Orange Beach, Ala.
LSU has been ranked among the Top 20 teams in the country by Soccer America for nine straight weeks. The club is also ranked in the Top 20 at No. 20 in the latest Soccer Times Top 25, while it comes in at No. 29 in this week’s Soccer Buzz Top 30 released on Tuesday.
The Tigers enter Friday’s match with 12-3-1 overall record and a 6-3-1 mark in the Southeastern Conference. They are currently No. 2 in the overall SEC standings with 19 points and trail only the 30 points of SEC champion Florida on the league table. LSU is also tied with Auburn atop the SEC West standings, but holds the tiebreaker thanks to a 2-1 win over Auburn on Oct. 10.
The Tigers and Razorbacks are set to kick it off at 7 p.m. on Friday night with Arkansas needing a win to put itself in a position to earn one of eight qualifying spots into the SEC Tournament.
