LEXINGTON, Ky. — The LSU men’s tennis team is returning to tournament play on Thursday as eight members of the team prepare to compete in the Wilson ITA Southeast regional hosted by the University of Kentucky.
The tournament will begin with doubles play starting at 8:30 a.m. CDT on Thursday with a 64-team draw. Singles play begins in the round of 128 and is slated for Friday at 1:00 p.m. Consolations will be held on Saturday and Sunday for those eliminated in the first round.
“We are looking for someone to have a breakthrough tournament,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. “We are looking to build on last week.”
LSU duo Mark Bowtell and Jonathan Tragardh will kick off the tournament for the Tigers at 10 a.m. as they take on University of Tennessee ?Chattanooga tandem Peter Sauska and Pavel Vostrikov in the first round of doubles competition. Duos Sebastian Carlsson and Neal Skupski, Ryan Lissner and Cody Loup as well as No. 5 seed James Cluskey and Julien Gauthier received first round byes and will begin competition in the round of 32 Thursday afternoon.
All eight Tigers making the trip will compete in the singles portion of the tournament. Singles matches will begin at the conclusion of the doubles quarterfinals on Friday.
