HOUSTON — Tickets for the Saturday, Dec. 20, basketball doubleheader at the Houston Toyota Center involving the LSU men’s basketball team go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m.
The tickets are on sale through ToyotaCenterTix.com, by phone at 1-866-4-HOUTIX and at the Toyota Center Box Office.
The doubleheader matches the Texas Longhorns and the Michigan State Spartans in a 1 p.m. opener that will be nationally-televised by CBS Sports. The Tigers will play in the second game of the afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m. against the Aggies of Texas A&M.
This will mark the fourth-straight season the teams have met, dating back to the second round of the 2006 NCAA Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla., when Darrel Mitchell hit a three-pointer with less than 10 seconds to play to give the Tigers a 58-57 win that would ultimately send LSU to the NCAA Final Four.
The teams met in December of that year in Baton Rouge with LSU ranked ninth and A&M ranked sixth and the Tigers came away with a 64-52 win. In January of 2008, the teams met in College Station for the first time since 1981 with LSU dressing just eight players because of injuries, the Aggies easily prevailed, 79-53.
This will be the third time the two teams have played in one of the major venues in Houston. In December 1983, the teams met in the Houston Summitt with the Tigers winning, 75-65, and in November of 2002, the teams met in the Space City Classic at Reliant Stadium with A&M prevailing, 79-77.
LSU was last in the Toyota Center on Dec. 10, 2006, losing in overtime to Texas, 76-75, in a nationally-televised contest before a crowd of over 12,000.
One ticket gets ticketholders into both games and as of now, there is no television scheduled for the LSU-A&M contest.
