ADELAIDE, Australia — LSU sophomore Amalie Valle finally got her back nine problems corrected Friday and shot the best round of the day for her team from her home country of Norway in the third round of the Women’s World Amateur Team Championships at the Grange Golf Club’s East and West courses.
Valle shot 3-over 76 on the par 73 East course to lead Norway on the third day of the four-day tournament that concludes on Saturday. Valle also moved up 11 spots in the individual competition to 107th in the 48-team, 144-player event. Tonje Daffinrud had the other counting score for the team from Norway with a 4-over 77. Daffinrud’s three-day total of 6-over 224 stands in a tie for 20th.
Meanwhile, Sweden continues to dominate the event with a 54-hole total of 14-under par 422, 11 shots better than Spain at 3-under 433. The USA team is fourth at 2-over 438 after Alison Walshe paced a 4-under round for the Americans with a 4-under 69 on the East Course. Amanda Blumenherst and Tiffany Joh both shot even-par 73s.
Sweden’s Caroline Hedwall, sister of LSU freshman Jacqueline Hedwall, is the individual leader at 8-under 210 (67-70-73), while second place belongs to teammate Anna Nordqvist at 6-under 212 (70-68-74).
