EVANSTON, Ill. — Seven members of the LSU women’s tennis team will travel to the Wildcat Invitational where they will compete against some of the toughest opponents from across the country beginning on Friday.
Northwestern hosts the tournament that boasts a strong list of schools in attendance, including Michigan State, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Akron and Southeastern Conference foe South Carolina.
“This is a good opportunity to give the girls a chance for more experience against some quality opponents,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “This is a great second tournament to compete in and a tremendous opportunity for growth, especially for the freshmen.”
The tournament features four 16-player singles flights and two 16-team doubles flights.
On the tournament’s first day Hannah Robinson will compete against DePaul’s Anna Redecsi in Flight A, while Nicole Kantor will face Minnesota’s Tijana Koprivica and Whitney Wolf will play DePaul’s Gia McKnight in Flight B. Nicole Smith will take on Oklahoma’s Peta Maree Lancaster, and Kylie Adamek will face Oklahoma’s Marie-Pier Huet in Flight C. Sloane Mathis will play Wisconsin’s Erin Jobe, and Chandler Kleinpeter will compete against Minnesota’s Elena Kazakova in Flight D.
In Flight A of doubles, Robinson and Wolf will team up against Minnesota’s Alessandra Ferrazzi and Koprivica. In Flight B, Adamek and Mathis will play Oklahoma’s Maria Kalashnikova and Lancaster, and Kantor and Smith will take on Akron’s Zaruhi Harutyunyan and Anna Baronayte.
The action will take place at Northwestern’s Vandy Christie Tennis Center and will begin each day at 9 a.m. CT and is expected to last until 6 p.m.
