TULSA, Okla. — LSU is set begin the main draw of the D’Novo All-American as seniors James Cluskey and Michael Venus take the courts Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center for the singles and doubles main draw of the tournament.
Venus will first take on Illinois’ Roy Kalmanovich in an 8 a.m. match. No. 20 in preseason rankings, Venus posted an impressive overall record of 14-9 last season, including an 8-6 mark against nationally ranked opponents. Kalmanovich is listed at No. 98 with a 4-2 mark for the 2007-08 season.
Later in the day, Venus will join teammate Cluskey for the doubles portion of the main draw. After posting a 16-6 record and a final rank of No. 14 for the prior season, the Tiger tandem entered the preseason rankings at No. 5. The LSU duo will take on No. 37 Miguel Reyes Varela and Olivier Sajous of Texas at 5 p.m.
