BATON ROUGE ? The 15th-ranked LSU soccer team will look to put an end to its two-game losing skid on Sunday afternoon when it travels to Athens, Ga., to take on the resurgent Georgia Bulldogs in a match scheduled to kick off at noon CT at the Turner Soccer Complex.

The Tigers have dropped back-to-back matches for the first time since 2006 and hope to rebound after suffering one-goal defeats at Ole Miss on Sept. 28 and at Tennessee on Friday night.

In order to get back on the winning track, LSU must defeat a Bulldog squad that is coming off of a thrilling 2-1 double overtime victory against Arkansas on Friday night. Georgia is unbeaten in its last two SEC matches after also picking up a 1-1 draw at No. 24 South Carolina a week ago.

“This will be another difficult Sunday afternoon match in the SEC, and we will have to be on top of our game to come away with a result,” said LSU head coach Brian Lee. “Georgia is an outstanding team that has played without a doubt the most difficult non-conference schedule that you will find in women’s college soccer. Their record is in no way a reflection of their quality.

“It also seems like they have started to find a groove because they are playing very well right now as a team. We’re expecting another tough Sunday afternoon battle when we kick off tomorrow.”

Despite entering the match with a 3-7-1 overall mark, five of Georgia’s losses have come against non-conference opponents currently ranked among the nation’s Top 10 teams, including defending national champion Southern California and Stanford of the Pac-10 and North Carolina, Duke and Virginia of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Junior All-American Carrie Patterson leads the Bulldog attack again this season as she is the team leader with four goals and 11 points on the year. She is only three points shy of becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer while already racking up 74 points for her Bulldog career.
