Women's Golfers Finish Top 5 in Norwegian Nationals

Women’s Golfers Finish Top 5 in Norwegian Nationals

VESTFOLD, Norway — The strong summer of play by LSU women’s golf team continues in the weeks before they return to school as both sophomore Amalie Valle and senior Caroline Martens had strong finishes Sunday in the Ladies Norwegian Golf Championship.

The 72-hole event, was played at the Vestfold Golf Club, one of the top 100 golf courses in the world.

Valle finished second behind Lene Krog, a senior at Virginia, shot rounds of 74-74-76-69 to finish at 5-over par 293 to finish three shots behind Krog in the runner up spot. Martens tied for fourth at 12-over 300 with rounds of 77-71-74-78.

The LSU players will begin reporting back to LSU late this week in preparation for the fall semester. LSU’s nationally-ranked women’s golf team will play three tournaments in the fall part of the season.
