EULISS, Texas — LSU women’s golfer Nicole Crochet of Harahan, La., fired a 5-over 76 Thursday on the Texas Star Golf Club layout to finish as the runner-up in the Collegiate Players Tour National Championship event.
The championship is the final event on a 14-stop series of tournaments for collegiate golfers held during the summer.
Crochet’s 76 to go with an even par 71 and a 77 put her at 11-over par 224 for the 54-hole event. On the final day, she moved past Baylor golfer Jordan Rhodes of San Antonio, who posted an eight-over 79 and fell back to third at 13-over 226. Megan Dowdy of Leander, Texas made a big move on the final day, shooting a two-under 69 to get fourth at 227.
The wire-to-wire winner of the event was University of Iowa senior Tyrette Metzendorf of Winter Haven, Fla., who won the event at even-par 213 after rounds of 69-70-74.
