Softball’s Mouse Earns ASA All-America Honor

STRATFORD, Conn. — LSU softball player Jessica Mouse, who completed her freshman season with the Tigers in the spring, earned second-team All-America honors as a member of the Brakettes in the Amateur Softball Association Women’s National Tournament in Amherst, N.Y.

For the summer, Mouse hit .279 with 14 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 35 RBIs in 55 games. This is the first Women’s National All-America honor for the LSU third baseman. The Brakettes are a renowned amateur team that has won 27 ASA Women’s National titles and four in the past seven years. Due to rain, the final games of this year’s tournament were cancelled and the So Cal Hurricanes were named tournament champions.

Over the last several seasons, LSU has sent several players to the Brakettes for summer play. Former Tiger and 2007 National Catcher of the Year Killian Roessner was a two-time All-American, earning the honor in both 2004 and 2006. Former Tiger Lauren Castle and current LSU standout pitcher Dani Hofer were also a part of the Brakettes in 2006.
