EULISS, Texas — LSU sophomore women’s golfer Nicole Crochet of Harahan, La., slipped a spot to third after the second round of the Collegiate Players Tour National Championship event at the Texas Star Golf Club here Wednesday.
Crochet followed Tuesday’s par 71 with a 6-over 77 to finish 36 holes in the 54-hole event at 6-over 148. Jordan Rhodes of San Antonio, a sophomore at Baylor, followed an opening 76 with an even-par 71 to move up to second place at 5-over 147, one shot ahead of Crochet.
First round leader Tyrette Metzendorf of Winter Haven, Fla., a senior at Iowa, really planted herself as the one to beat, followed Tuesday’s 2-under 69 with a 1-under 70 on Wednesday to stand at 3-under 139, eight shots ahead of Rhodes and nine shots ahead of Crochet.
The final round is scheduled for Thursday.
