BATON ROUGE — Bernie Lipkis, who played on the offensive line for the LSU football team for three seasons in the late 1930s and early 1940s, died Tuesday in Chicago at 88.
Lipkis lettered for the Tigers from 1939 to 1941, earning All-Southeastern Conference honors his senior season. He was also named the team’s most valuable player in 1941, taking home the coveted Percy E. Roberts Award that year.
Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at The Weinstein Funeral Home North Shore Chapel, 111 Skokie Boulevard, Wilmette. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
