BATON ROUGE — Danny Bryan, former LSU men’s tennis player and student assistant, was promoted to assistant coach by head coach Jeff Brown on Monday.

Bryan will assist Brown as the Tigers come off a NCAA tournament berth, with a final ITA rank of No. 18 and an overall record of 15-9.

Prior to his student assistant role, he played four years for the Tigers exemplifying leadership on and off the court.

“Danny brings a wealth of playing experience from being a top-ranked Louisiana player and developing into one of the top collegiate players. Now, he is transitioning into a coach that will provide us with great leadership and a great work ethic,” commented Brown.

A four year letterman, Bryan served as co-captain for LSU both his junior and senior year. The New Orleans native is currently tied for 14th place in LSU career singles wins at 84 and after compiling 110 career doubles wins, was selected as a doubles ITA All-American his senior season.

His leadership skills were further exemplified as he earned the 2007 ITA/ Arthur Ashe Jr. for Leadership and Sportsmanship award as well as the 2007 LSU Male Volunteer of the Year. Bryan also received SEC Community Service team honors three times during his tenure as a player.

“I’m excited to take the next step in my career and to help continue the great tradition of LSU tennis,” said Bryan.

Bryan fills the position left open as former associate head coach Mark Booras accepted the head coaching position for Tulane’s men’s tennis team.
