OMAHA, Neb. — Lady Tigers’ swimmer Stephanie Cota completed her final race at the 2008 United States Olympic Team Trials Wednesday, taking part in the 200-meter butterfly at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb.
Cota recorded a time of 2:25.18 in the preliminaries and did not advance. During her four-day stay in Omaha, the junior competed in four events. The Granite Bay, Calif., native swam the 100m fly and 400m individual medley on opening day of the U.S. Trials and the 200m freestyle on Day 3 before finishing the competition with the 200m fly Wednesday.
Katie Gilmore is the final LSU athlete competing at the 2008 Olympic Trials. The senior qualified for the 100m free with a mark of 57.17 and is scheduled to swim in the race Thursday.
The fifth day of the U.S. Olympic Trials begins Thursday at 11 a.m. CT with the preliminary heats of the women’s 100m free, men’s 200m backstroke, women’s 200m breaststroke and men’s 200m IM. The semifinal and final rounds will start at 6:45 p.m. CT.
