Three Women’s Golfers Earn NGCA Scholar Award

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — Three members of the nationally-ranked LSU women’s golf team were announced Wednesday as part of the National Golf Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete team announced by the organization.

The criteria for selection to the Scholar team are some of the most stringent in college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50 percent of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

LSU’s recipient’s are senior Alexis Rather (Sports Management); and, freshman Megan McChrystal (Mass Communications) and Lindy LaBauve (Business). Rather is from Tupelo, Miss., while McChrystal hails from Stuart, Fla., and LaBauve from Scottsdale, Ariz.

For the LSU senior, it was Rather’s fourth time in her career to be named an NGCA member of the scholar team.

This brings the total to 21LSU members of the women’s team that have made the NGCA scholar squad since 1990.
