Lady Tigers Jump to Second at Crimson Tide Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — LSU, after opening with a rain washed scored of 312 on Friday, looked more like the 18th-ranked Lady Tiger team Saturday posting an 8-over 296 to move from sixth to second after two rounds of the Crimson Tide Classic.

While LSU is second at 608 (32-over par), Alabama sprinted away from the 12-team field with a round of 6-under 282 to open up a 26-shot lead on the Lady Tigers at 582 (6-over). The Lady Tigers are one shot better than Ole Miss at 609 with Jacksonville State at 612.

“It was a much better round for us,” said LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen. “We still had too many mistakes that led to double bogeys, but it was a good improvement for us. Alabama shot an amazing score and got away from everyone, but we want to come out and just have a solid round (Sunday) and stay at worst where we are.”

With scores as up and down as they have been, four LSU players are in the top 20 after 36-holes of the 54-hole event that concludes on Sunday.

Senior Rebecca Kuhn improved her opening 77 with an even-par 72 and stands at 5-over 149 in sixth place in the individual competition which is led by Kathleen Ekey of Alabama at 6-under 138 after Ekey fired a 6-under 66 on Saturday.

Also for the Lady Tigers, Lindy LaBauve is in a tie for ninth at 8-over 152 after a second round of 2-over 74. Also shooting 74 was another freshman, Amalie Valle at 9-over 153 (79-74), tied for 14th and in a group tied for 20th place was senior Alexis Rather at 11-over 155 (78-77).
