COLUMBUS, Ohio — Sophomore Rachel Ware of the LSU diving team will compete at the 2008 Women’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships beginning Thursday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
Ware will participate in all three diving events. The SEC Female Diver of the Year will first take part in the 1-meter on Thursday followed by the 3-meter on Friday and platform on Saturday. For each event, prelims will start at 12:30 p.m. CT and finals will begin at 6 p.m.
Ware has already had postseason success in the 1-meter as she won the event at the Southeastern Conference Championships in February.
Ware last competed at the NCAA Zone “B” meet in Auburn, Ala. where she reached the finals of the 1-meter and platform event to punch her ticket to the NCAAs.
Ware received All-American honors in the 1-meter and platform events at the NCAA Championships last year.
“Rachel has done a great job all year long and she had great success last year at this event which should give her some confidence,” LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “She is a competitor and this is the biggest meet of the year and the one we have prepared for all year long. I am excited for the opportunity that lies ahead for her.”
