Three Divers Make NCAA Zone B Finals

AUBURN, Ala. ? Three members of the LSU diving team reached the finals of their respective events Saturday at the NCAA Zone “B” Championships at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center.

Junior Niko Dalman was LSU’s highest finisher as he placed seventh in the 1-meter competition with a combined score of 641.50.
 
Michael Neubacher also reached the 1-meter finals. The SEC Freshman Diver of the Year notched 298.80 points in the prelims and 280.30 in the finals to finish in 15th place. Neubacher reached the finals of the 1-meter on Friday.
 
Senior Paige Brown finished 14th in the 3-meter competition with a combined score of 534.75 – scoring 261.90 in the prelims and 272.85 in the finals.
 
Rachel Ware scored 235.05 points in the 3-meter prelims and Nathan Schreiber tallied 272.15 in the 1-meter prelims.
 
“We had a better day today than Friday with some solid performances on both sides,” said LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer. “We had some unique things happen today with Rachel having a little mishap in the 3-meter. So far, she has put herself in strong contention to qualify for NCAAs but we will have to wait till tomorrow to find out. We are looking for a strong LSU Tiger finish tomorrow on the platform.”
 
On Sunday, the competition will come to close with the platform event. The women’s competition will begin at 10:15 a.m. followed by the men’s at 1 p.m.
