Carlsson Receives Second SEC Freshman Honor

BATON ROUGE — For the second time in three weeks, Sebastian Carlsson of the 26th-ranked LSU men’s tennis team was named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

The Sweeden native picked up three wins in singles and doubles this past weekend. Carlsson’s three singles victories all came in straight sets and he only relinquished seven games on the doubles court.

The freshman sensation leads the team in victories with 19 and has won nine of his last 10 matches, including his last four.

On Sunday, Carlsson and Kevin Dessauer were near perfect on the doubles court by picking up two 8-0 victories against Kentucky and Centenary. The Tiger tandem only gave up 20 points in their two shutout victories on Sunday.

Carlsson and the rest of the Tigers host South Florida Wednesday at 4 p.m. in W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium.
