BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Although two league games remain to be played on Sunday afternoon, the results of Saturday’s play put the final pieces on the puzzle for the 2008 Southeastern Conference Tournament that begins on Thursday in Atlanta.
With Ole Miss’ win over Georgia and Alabama’s win over Vanderbilt, the remaining seeds were determined.
The LSU Tigers will play the opening game of the tournament at the Georgia Dome at noon CST as the fourth seed from the Western Division against the fifth seed from the East, South Carolina. West six seed, Auburn, will face the third seed from the East, Vanderbilt, in the second game.
In the evening session, Alabama (W5) will face Florida (E4) and Ole Miss (W3) will take on Georgia (W6).
The top two teams in each division received byes to Friday’s play and the LSU-South Carolina winner will take on SEC regular season champion Tennessee at 1 p.m. in the first quarterfinal.
LSU’s game and all the games of the first three days will be telecast regionally by Raycom Sports. The championship game on Sunday will be televised by CBS Sports. All LSU games will be broadcast on the affiliates of the LSU Sports Radio Network and in the “Geaux Zone” at LSUsports.net.
