Soccer Media Guide Voted Fourth in Nation

BATON ROUGE ? The LSU women’s soccer media guide has earned distinction as one of the nation’s best as it has been voted the No. 4 media guide in the nation for the 2007-08 athletic year by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The LSU soccer media guide earned its lofty ranking in a judging of 66 media guides from across the country as it was also voted the top-ranked guide for District VI.

This marks the second time in three years that the LSU soccer media guide has been ranked among the best in Division I women’s college soccer as it received a No. 6 national ranking and a No. 2 ranking in District VI in 2005-06.

The 80-page media guide was written, compiled and edited by sports information graduate assistant Will Stafford with design and page-by-page layout by publications graphic design editor Krystal Bennett. Photography for the guide was provided by staff photographer Steve Franz.

“The LSU soccer program strives to be the best it can be both on and off the field, and that includes the outstanding work of our sports information and publications departments,” said LSU head coach Brian Lee. “Will Stafford and Krystal Bennett have put together a media guide that does an outstanding job of representing the progress this program has made the last three years.”

The guide is a complete source of up-to-date information on the 2007 squad, as well as archived information and records highlighting the 13-year history of the LSU soccer program.

It is a source of information for media outlets and fellow sports information and media relations offices across the country, as well as a valuable recruiting tool for the LSU coaching staff.

The judging is based on eight categories, including team information, season in review, program history, general information, conference information, graphic design and editorial. The guides are critiqued by three pre-selected judges from outside organizations.

The guide, along with those of all 20 varsity athletic programs at LSU, can be viewed online at www.LSUsports.net. The awards will be presented at CoSIDA’s annual convention in Tampa in July. CoSIDA is an organization designed to empower Sports Information Directors from across the country in their roles as sports information professionals.
