BATON ROUGE — The 18th-ranked LSU men’s tennis team returns home to host a doubleheader on Sunday at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium with Southern Miss at noon and Southern at 5 p.m.

Sunday’s matches were originally scheduled for Jan. 29 but were postponed due to inclement weather.

The Tigers (1-1) dropped a 6-1 decision against then 12th-ranked Illinois last Saturday. The Golden Eagles (1-5) fell to Arizona State last Sunday, 7-0. The Jaguars (0-3) are coming off a 7-0 loss against Arkansas last Friday.

LSU swept both teams last season by knocking off Southern Miss by a 7-0 score and overpowering Southern, 6-0.

The Tigers hold a 33-0 record all-time against Southern Miss and hold a 16-0 series record against Southern.

“We are anxious to get back on the court and chomping at the bit to compete,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us so we can continue to prepare for SEC play.”

Freshman Sebastian Carlsson and senior Jan Zelenzy are tied for a team-best 12 singles wins. Carlsson has won nine out of his last 10 matches.

After Sunday’s double header the Tigers have two tough non-conference matches against Clemson on Thursday, Feb. 21, and Texas A&M on Saturday, Feb. 23, before they begin conference play.
