Eight Tigers Invited to NFL Scouting Combine

BATON ROUGE — Eight seniors off of LSU’s 2007 national championship team have been invited to participate in the 2008 NFL Scouting Combine later this month in Indianapolis.

The NFL Scouting Combine will be held Feb. 20-26 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

Representing LSU at the combine will be defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, wide receiver Early Doucet, quarterback Matt Flynn, running back Jacob Hester, linebacker Ali Highsmith, and defensive backs Craig Steltz, Chevis Jackson and Jonathan Zenon.

Doucet, Hester and Flynn will be on display for the NFL head coaches and general managers on Friday, Feb. 22, while Dorsey and Highsmith will take their turn on Saturday, Feb. 23. LSU’s three defensive backs will participate in the combine on Sunday, Feb. 24.

All eight LSU players participating in the combine are expected to be selected in the 2008 NFL Draft, which takes place on April 26-27 in New York City.

Dorsey is trying to become the second straight LSU player taken first overall in the draft, joining quarterback JaMarcus Russell who was picked No. 1 overall last year by the Oakland Raiders.  Dorsey, the winner of four national awards this year, has been projected as one of the top three players in this year’s NFL Draft.

Southern Cal is the only school history NFL Draft history to produce the No. 1 overall pick in back-to-back seasons and that came in 1968-69 when Ron Yary and O.J. Simpson were taken first in consecutive seasons.
