Lady Tigers Return Home to Face Rival Texas A&M

BATON ROUGE — Fresh off a three-match trip to the West Coast, the LSU women’s tennis team will host Texas A&M at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium at noon Sunday.

The Lady Tigers bring a 3-1 record into the match with wins over three ranked opponents and the only loss coming against 17th-ranked Pepperdine.

“A&M is our biggest rival outside of the SEC, and I am expecting a tough match,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “When we play them it is always a battle, so we will have to be at our best if we hope to win.”

The Aggies (3-0) feature five players who hold double-digit victories in singles and are led in doubles by senior Anna Blagodarova and sophomore Michelle Sammons who have a 10-0 record.

Junior All-American Megan Falcon enters the match against Texas A&M with a 12-2 record and a perfect 4-0 in dual matches. Sophomore Hannah Robinson holds a 12-3 record and is also a perfect 4-0 in dual play.

The Lady Tigers are led in doubles by 30th-ranked Mykala Hedberg and Staten Spencer who have a 9-2 record and have won six straight matches.

LSU will also look for redemption against the Aggies after last season’s 5-2 loss in College Station, Texas. Overall, the Lady Tigers trail 18-12 in the series versus Texas A&M.

As a reminder, the first 100 fans who come out to the “Dub” to see the Lady Tigers battle Texas A&M will receive a free ticket to the 12th annual Pack the PMAC LSU women’s basketball game against Georgia.
