CHARLOTTESVILE, Va. — The LSU women’s tennis team rebounded in doubles by winning two out of three matches against 21st-ranked Wake Forest and continued its overall solid play on the second day of the UVa Team Invitational Saturday.
One day after falling in doubles, LSU’s 30th-ranked duo of Mykala Hedberg and Staten Spencer responded with an 8-5 victory over Christian Tara and Emilee Malvehy in Flight B.
LSU’s two seniors, Anastasiya Dubova and Tiffany Tucker, were paired up in Flight C, and for the second time in the tournament the duo was victorious as they defeated Sierra Poske and Katarina Reveche, 8-1.
“It was another good day on the courts,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “We came out against a top 20 team and played solid tennis. We just need to come out with the same mindset against Purdue and continue to play hard.”
In singles action, Megan Falcon knocked off No. 75 Alexandra Hirsch in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 in Flight A. Tucker continued her strong play as the Fort Worth, Texas native won her sixth straight singles match dating back to the fall as she beat Malvehy, 6-1, 7-6 in Flight E.
Sophomore Hannah Robinson rebounded after losing Friday by beating Aileen Davis in a pro set, 8-1 in Flight F.
The Lady Tigers conclude their stay at the tournament by facing Purdue at 8 a.m. CT at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club tomorrow.
