BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team kicks off the spring season by traveling to Charlottesville, Va., to participate in the UVa Team Invitational held at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club this weekend.
The University of Virginia is the host for the tournament that also features 21st-ranked Wake Forest and Purdue.
The tournament consists of three exhibition matches per team. On Friday, LSU will take on Virginia while Wake Forest faces Purdue. On Saturday, the Lady Tigers will square off against Wake Forest, and Virginia plays Purdue. On the last day of the tournament, LSU will take on Purdue while ACC rivals Wake Forest and Virginia play.
“It’s a great opportunity to get out and get some match play experience before the official season starts,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “This tournament is set up very well with Virginia, Purdue and Wake Forest, so we should be able to go out and play against top-notch competition and hopefully fare pretty well.”
LSU’s Friday and Saturday matches will begin at 9 a.m. CT, but the final match on Sunday against Purdue will start at 8 a.m.
