The LSU football team became the first in the Bowl Championship Series era (since 1998) to win two national championship games. Posting a 12-2 overall record, the Tigers scored 31 unanswered points to beat Big Ten Champion Ohio State, 38-24, on Jan. 8, 2008, in the Louisiana Superdome.
Flynn threw for four touchdown passes and Hester led the team’s ground attack, while the LSU defense led by Doresy and Highsmith dominted the Buckeyes after giving up 10 early points.
In his third season at LSU, Miles and the Tigers were undefeated in regulation, suffering two triple-overtime losses before winning the school’s 10th Southeastern Conference championship by beating Tennessee in the Georgia Dome.
