Brown Wins Platform on Final Day in Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. — Senior Paige Brown of the LSU diving team won the platform event to close out the Georgia Diving Invitational Saturday morning at the Gabrielsen Natatorium. The three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member tallied 261.45 points to take first place honors.

“I was extremely pleased with Paige’s performance today as well as the team’s overall performance at this invitational,” said LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer. “On the women’s side, in every event we had the highest-scoring SEC competitor. That puts us in a good position looking forward to the SEC Championships.”

Sophomore Rachel Ware toped off her solid invitational performance by placing 11th on the platform with 200.95 points. The two-time All-American had top-four finishes in the 1 and 3-meter springboard events earlier in the invitational.

On the men’s side, freshman Mike Neubacher was LSU’s highest platform finisher by finishing fourth with 317.40 points. Niko Dalman placed eighth by scoring 285.50 points, while junior Nathan Schreiber tallied 244.00 points to finish in 13th place.

The Tigers will be back in the pool next Friday, Jan. 11, when they travel to Tallahassee Fla. to face Florida State at the Bobby E. Leach Recreation Center.
