Ware Wins 1-Meter Springboard at LSU Diving Invitational

BATON ROUGE — Sophomore Rachel Ware won the 1-meter springboard on Saturday as LSU opened the LSU Diving Invitational with nine finals’ finishes at the LSU Natatorium.

Ware tallied a mark 274.60 in the 1-meter final after leading the preliminaries with a score of 288.25. The sophomore All-American claimed first place by nearly 20 points than that of second place held by Hannah Krimm of Georgia Tech.

Ware claimed third place in the 3-meter final with a score of 280.25. Senior Paige Brown was fourth in the event with a score of 278.90 while adding another fourth-place finish in the 1-meter final (249.65). Georgia Tech’s Stephanie England won the 3-meter with a score of 309.20.

In men’s 1-meter diving, junior Niko Dalman was LSU’s highest finisher taking third place with a score of 298.90. Dalman was fourth in the 3-meter final with a mark of 309.55.

Freshman Michael Neubacher added another Tiger top-three finish with third in the 3-meter. Neubacher scored a mark of 338.90 after having the fourth-highest total in the prelims (310.60). Junior Nathan Schreiber was eighth in the 3-meter ( 291.50) and fifth in the 1-meter final (282.20). LSU qualified all three divers for the men’s 1-meter final.

Auburn’s Kelly Marx won the men’s 3-meter with a score of 354.80, and Georgia Tech’s Evan Stowers took first in the 1-meter with a mark of 339.65.

Platform competition gets underway 11 a.m. Sunday in the LSU Natatorium. Admission is free.
