AUBURN, Ala. — Six members of the LSU women’s tennis team will close out the fall season in Alabama in the SEC Coaches Classic at the City of Auburn/Auburn University Yarbrough Tennis Center Thursday.
LSU will be represented in singles and doubles play by senior Anastasiya Dubova, juniors Mykala Hedberg and Staten Spencer, sophomores Nicole Kantor and Sloane Mathis and freshman Kylie Adamek.
“Hopefully we can end the fall season on a positive note at the SEC Coaches Classic,” head coach Tony Minnis said. “We have had a good fall, and we are hoping we can come out strong and play well.”
The tournament features four singles flights, and in singles flight one Hedberg will face Yvette Hyndman of Georgia. In the second singles flight Kantor and Spencer received first round byes. In the third singles flight, Dubova also received a first round bye, but she will face the second seed, Cameron Ellis of Georgia in the second round. In the fourth singles flight, both Mathis and Adamek received first round byes.
The tournament features two doubles flights. In doubles flight A, Hedberg and Spencer received a bye and will face Renee Joseph and Daniela Juskova of Mississippi State in the round of 16. In doubles flight B, Dubova and Kantor will take on Jennifer Meredith and Samantha Orlin of Tennessee in the round of 16. Mathis and Adamek will not compete in doubles for the Lady Tigers.
Play begins tomorrow with doubles at 4 p.m. CDT, but singles action will not get underway until Friday.
