Falcon, Robinson Open Play in ITA Indoor Nationals

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Megan Falcon and Hannah Robinson of the LSU women’s tennis team will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoor Championships at the Racquet Club of Columbus Thursday.

Falcon, ranked No. 1 nationally in singles, will be the top seed in the tournament and will face off against the 56th-ranked player in the country, Cristina Visico of California in the first round.

Falcon will team up with sophomore Hannah Robinson to compete in the doubles portion of the tournament. The duo is ranked No. 13 in the country and will face off against the tournament’s fourth seed and the nation’s 11th-ranked duo of Tinesta Rowe and Melanie Gloria of Fresno State in the first round.

“We are excited to compete,” assistant coach Lisa Jackson said. “We have prepared well. We know we are up against stiff competition, and we are looking forward to getting out there and competing hard.”

Last fall, Falcon advanced to the second round of the Indoor Championships in singles before falling to Jenna Long of North Carolina. Falcon retired due to injury with Long leading the match 7-6 (1), 2-1.

Falcon and Robinson will begin doubles play tomorrow at 10:45 a.m. CDT while Falcon’s singles match will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m.
