BATON ROUGE — Golfer Clayton Rotz and middle blocker Brittnee Cooper were named the LSU Male and Female Athletes of the Week on Wednesday following a vote by a local media panel.
Rotz posted the first top-five finish of his career at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate last weekend. The freshman from Chambersburg, Pa., finished fourth overall with a 1-under 215 over three rounds of play. His weekend was highlighted by two rounds of 2-under 70.
Cooper led LSU to a sweep of Auburn and Georgia in SEC play last week. The sophomore from Houston led the match with 14 kills and a .417 hitting percentage against the Tigers. She then bettered that effort against the Bulldogs, recording 16 kills and .545 hitting percentage, both of which marked career highs.
On the weekend, Cooper led the team in hitting percentage and kills and was second in blocks.
