BATON ROUGE — After defeating Vanderbilt on Friday night and playing Kentucky to a draw on Sunday afternoon, the LSU soccer team moved up four spots to No. 20 in this week’s Soccer America Top 25 released by the publication Monday morning.
The Tigers (10-2-5, 4-1-3 SEC) blanked the Commodores, 2-0, in Nashville, Tenn., before extending their unbeaten streak to three with a 1-1 draw against the Wildcats in Lexington, Ky.
This marks the third straight week that the Tigers are ranked in the Soccer America Top 25 as the squad is unbeaten in four games with a 2-0-2 mark against teams that are in the latest poll. LSU boasts dominating wins over the likes of No. 17 Tennessee (3-0) and No. 25 Miami (4-1) while it has drawn No. 10 Texas (2-2) and No. 21 Georgia (1-1).
The Tigers are also listed in the latest NCAA Tournament projection released by Top Drawer Soccer on Monday. They are ranked No. 33 in the projection and are one of five SEC teams listed, including No. 14 Tennessee, No. 16 Florida, No. 22 Georgia and No. 37 South Carolina.
LSU is now tied for third place in the SEC standings with Auburn and Florida as each squad has 15 points in league play. Tennessee is on top with 19 points followed by Georgia with 17 points.
The Tigers return to the pitch on Thursday night as they welcome the South Carolina Gamecocks to the LSU Soccer Complex in a match scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff. They follow with a trip to Gainesville, Fla., on Sunday to take on 22nd-ranked Florida at 11 a.m. CDT.
