BATON ROUGE — After earning its best finish in more than two seasons at the Squire Creek Invitational last week, the LSU men’s golf team returns to action in the ClubGlove Intercollegiate at Saticoy Country Club in Somis, Calif., beginning Monday.

The Tigers are fresh off of a runner-up finish at the Squire Creek Invitational at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La., finishing the 54-hole event with a season best 2-under par 862.

Freshman standout Clayton Rotz led the way with his second straight top-10 finish of his young career after tying for eighth place at 2-under 214. Junior Jarrod Barsamian and freshman Andrew Loupe each earned their best career finishes by tying for 11th place at 1-under 215.

The trio will lead the squad into action this week as the Tigers are set to compete against a 12-team field that features four teams ranked among the top 50 squads in the country in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. LSU, ranked No. 49 in the updated rankings, will square off against the likes of No. 12 Lamar, No. 20 Pepperdine and No. 38 Memphis.

Rounding out the field for this year’s championship are Colorado, Colorado State, Georgia State, Kansas State, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, New Mexico and UC-Santa Barbara.

Joining Barsamian, Loupe and Rotz in the starting lineup are senior Brian Noonan and freshman John Peterson. Peterson is making his fourth start of the season, while Noonan is also making his fourth tournament appearance and his 15th straight start dating back to the 2005-06 season.

The championship is scheduled for 54 holes with two rounds being played Monday followed by the final round beginning Tuesday morning. Tee times for the first round begin at 9:30 a.m. CDT and live scoring of the event can be found by logging on to www.golfstat.com

After returning to Baton Rouge, the Tigers will break for a week before wrapping up the fall season at the Bridgestone Collegiate Championship hosted by UNC-Greensboro at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., from Oct. 29-30. The spring season begins with a trip to the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., from Feb. 9-10.
