BATON ROUGE — With the LSU football team set to host Auburn at Tiger Stadium on Saturday, the LSU Athletic Ticket Office reminds fans that large numbers of stolen and counterfeit tickets were sold for LSU’s game against Florida two weeks ago. These tickets were sold over the Internet and by ticket sellers around the stadium on game day. Unfortunately, many Tigers fans were defrauded.
If a fan purchases a stolen or counterfeit ticket, he or she can be denied admission at the gates and subject to investigation. If a person is already in the stadium and is caught with a stolen or counterfeit ticket, that individual will be ejected and may be subject to arrest.
“Fans who purchase game tickets on the secondary market are taking a big chance,” said Brian Broussard, LSU’s assistant athletic director for ticket operations.
There are several organized groups that work out of Atlanta and New York that travel to various sporting events and concerts and sell these stolen and counterfeit items, Broussard said.
LSU reminds fans that the only authorized outlet for LSU football tickets is the LSU Athletic Ticket Office, including the LSU Ticket Marketplace at LSUsports.net. Purchasing tickets from other sources are done at the buyers’ own risk.
