MIDLAND, Texas — For the second year in a row the LSU women’s tennis team will travel to Midland, Texas, to compete in The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational at The Racquet Club this weekend.
Kylie Adamek, Tiffany Tucker and Anastasiya Dubova will compete for LSU. This marks the first action of the fall season for Dubova, a senior from Novaya Kahovka, Ukraine. Assistant coach Lisa Jackson will travel with the players for this tournament.
“We’re excited to play in a strong tournament,” Jackson said. “I’m looking forward to seeing how practice over the last couple of weeks will pay off, and I’m also looking forward to seeing how we will look in match play coming off the UNLV Invitational.”
All three will participate in singles beginning Friday. The tournament features two flights of singles play. Flight One consists of 32 competitors from across the nation while flight Two is limited to eight players and will begin with a quarterfinal round.
In Flight One, Dubova will play Julie Chao of Rice, and Tucker will face the tournament’s third seed and the nation’s 78th-ranked Nina Munch-Soegaard of TCU. In Flight Two, Adamek will take on Rachael Wilhelm of North Texas. All singles matches are set to begin at 9 a.m. CDT.
The doubles bracket is still to be determined.
Last season LSU’s Staten Spencer and Hannah Robinson traveled to the tournament, and Spencer won the consolation finals in singles while Robinson made it to the consolation semifinals.
