BATON ROUGE — After earning the program’s first ever national ranking at No. 19 in the Soccer America Top 25 released Monday, LSU is now ranked No. 22 in the Soccer Times Top 25 and No. 29 in the Soccer Buzz Top 30 released Tuesday.
The Tigers are fresh off of a historic weekend as they earned their first ever victory over an opponent ranked among the Top 10 teams in the nation with a 3-0 shutout of No. 6 Tennessee on Friday followed by a 1-1 draw with No. 18 Georgia on Sunday.
LSU is building an impressive resume for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament as it remains unbeaten against ranked opponents this season with a 1-0-2 mark. In addition to their results this weekend, the Tigers played then fourth-ranked Texas to a 2-2 draw in Austin back on Sept. 18.
Not only is LSU ranked among the top teams in the country, but the squad is one of the top teams in the Central Region as it is No. 5 in the latest regional rankings released by Soccer Buzz and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The Tigers are preparing to go on the road in the Southeastern Conference for the first time this season as they take on the Auburn Tigers (7-3-1, 3-1-0 SEC) on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Auburn Soccer Complex and the Alabama Crimson Tide (8-3-1, 1-1-1 SEC) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Alabama Soccer Complex.
