BATON ROUGE — Members of the LSU baseball team lifted the spirits of several young patients Wednesday afternoon as the Tigers visited the children’s ward at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.

The players signed autographs and offered encouraging words to the children and their families.

Players visiting the hospital Wednesday included Michael Hollander, Nicholas Pontiff, Cody Reine, Shane Ardoin, Jared Bradford, Kyle Beerbohm, Taylor Martin, Kevin Farnsworth, Louis Coleman and Micah Gibbs.

The Tigers are scheduled to participate in several community service projects throughout the school year. LSU’s next projects are scheduled for October 27, when the team will take part in both the Buddy Walk and the ALS Walk.

The Buddy Walk will take place at Ochsner Hospital and is designed to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome.

The ALS Walk, which will take place at the LSU Veterinary School, promotes awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
