TULSA, Okla. — The LSU men’s tennis team completed its stay at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships held at the University of Tulsa after Kevin Dessauer and Jan Zelezny were eliminated in the doubles portion of the tournament.
Colt Gaston added a spark for the Tigers by rebound from a first-set deficit to defeat Duke’s Kiril Dimitrov, 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (8), in the consolation bracket. Dessauer also took his consolation match to a tiebreaker but fell to Indiana’s Thomas Richter, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (4.)
“Overall, we saw some good things in some different spots this week,” LSU Associate Head Coach Mark Booras said. “But we will have to take these next couple of weeks to tune up some areas before our next tournament.”
Dessauer and Zelezny held their own against Enrique Olivares and Sebastian Serrano in doubles but stumbled down the stretch to lose by a 8-6 margin.
The Tigers return to action in two weeks when they travel to Lexington, Ky. for the Wilson/ITA Fall Southeast Regional Championships held at the Hillary J. Boone Tennis Complex.
