Football Season Ticket Sales Again Break Record

BATON ROUGE — For the third consecutive year, LSU goes into the college football season having sold more season tickets than the year before as Tiger fans have purchased a school-record 68,230 season tickets.

The 68,230 season tickets that have been purchased for LSU’s seven home football games this year surpassed the previous mark of 67,700 set during the 2006 season. LSU sold 66,100 season tickets in its first year under head coach Les Miles.

“We’ve sold every season ticket that we can sell,” assistant athletic director for ticket operations Brian Broussard said.

Last year, LSU averaged a school-record 92,212 fans for its eight home games.

“That’s great news,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “I enjoy being a part of the LSU football program and the loyal following our team has. Our team feels obligated to put a great team out there for them. It means another great season of home field advantage and the same passion that surrounds Tiger football for as long as I have been associated with it.”

LSU opens its season on Thursday, Aug. 30 when the second-ranked Tigers travel to face Mississippi State in a nationally televised contest on ESPN.

The Tigers open their home slate the following Saturday when Virginia Tech comes to Tiger Stadium in one of college football’s most anticipated non-conference matchups in 2007.

Other home games for the Tigers this year include hosting Middle Tennessee on Sept. 15; South Carolina on Sept. 22; defending national champion Florida on Oct. 6; Auburn on Oct. 20; Louisiana Tech on Nov. 10; and Arkansas on Nov. 23.
