BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 2007 gymnastics media guide earned national recognition from the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) as it was voted the second best in the nation in the organization’s yearly publications contest.
The 96-page guide was written and edited by Associate Sports Information Director Laurie Cannon with layout and design provided by graphic design coordinator Krystal Bennett. LSU staff photographer Steve Franz and publications director Jason Feirman, along with Joey Bordelon and Ryan Shaw provided photography.
“The thing that I am most proud of about this media guide is that over 30 years of history years has been taken and put together in one complete book,” said LSU head gymnastics coach D-D Breaux. “It’s a shining example of what our program has represented over the years.”
The media guide is a complete source of up-to-date information on the 2007 Tiger team, including coach and athlete biographies as well as statistical information. Also included is archived information and records documenting the program’s impressive history 32-year history.
While considered a source of information for media outlets and other sports information directors and offices, the media guide also serves as a valuable recruiting tool for the coaching staff.
“The media guide is a recruiting tool that helps us showcase our program and university. It depicts all the aspects of our program that we want to highlight to potential student-athletes,” said Breaux.

Judging for the contest was based on eight different categories, including team information, program history, graphics and design. All media guides were critiqued by a panel of three judges selected from outside organizations.
CoSIDA is an organization to help SIDs at all levels. The purpose of the organization is to empower its members in their roles as sports information professionals.
