CYPRESS, Texas — LSU redshirt freshman Nicole Crochet from Harahan, La., captured the Collegiate Players Tour stop here Thursday at Blackhorse Golf Club.
Crochet becomes the second member of the LSU women’s golf team to win a CPT event in 2007 in the tour’s first three events as incoming freshman Megan McChrystal won the opening event of the season in Orlando, Fla.
Crochet tied for the lead in the second round of the 54-hole event after shooting 78 on opening day, five shots out of the lead. She moved into a tie for the lead in round two with a 2-under 70 and then captured the event with a 1-over 73 in the last round. Crochet finished the event with a 5-over 221, three shots better than Janine Fellows of Houston, Texas.
