Kerin Named Athletics Director for Compliance

BATON ROUGE — Bo Kerin, who has spent the past five years with the NCAA in its membership services division, has been hired as LSU’s associate athletic director in charge of compliance, director of athletics Skip Bertman announced.

Kerin replaces Chris Howard, who left LSU last month to become associate athletic director at Kansas.

“We’re pleased to have Bo Kerin join our staff,” Bertman said.  “He brings a wealth of knowledge from his position at the NCAA Office, and his experience in the SEC is an additional benefit for LSU.”

As LSU’s compliance director, Kerin will serve as the liaison between LSU and the NCAA and Southeastern Conference offices for NCAA rules interpretations and other matters. He will also be responsible for developing and coordinating educational components for staff, student-athletes, booster organizations, and entities outside the athletics department on NCAA and SEC rules and regulations.

Kerin comes to LSU after a five-year stint with the NCAA from 2001-2007, where he most recently served as associate director of membership services. Kerin’s primary responsibilities with the NCAA included oversight of the training of new staff members on the rules education program, the continuing education program for the membership services staff as well as the interpretation of NCAA legislation for Division I institutions.

Prior to his work with the NCAA, Kerin served in compliance at Mississippi State, holding the assistant director position for one year before being promoted to compliance coordinator from 1999 to 2001.

Kerin graduated from Tennessee in 1996 with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. He followed that with a Master’s degree in education from Mississippi State in 2000.
