Women’s Tennis Opens SEC Championship Against Ole Miss

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The LSU women’s tennis team arrived in Lexington, Ky., on Wednesday for the Southeastern Conference Championship tournament.

The seventh-seeded Lady Tigers will face 10th-seeded Ole Miss in the opening round of the tournament Thursday at 10 a.m. ET.

“We have Mississippi in the first round on Thursday morning which won’t be an easy match. They have a tremendous amount of talent and we can’t overlook anybody,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “If we were to get past Mississippi, we are excited about the opportunity to play Florida.”

LSU has played SEC Western foe Ole Miss 32 times in its history. Ole Miss leads the series against LSU by a score of 20-12. The two teams have split matches in the last two years as Ole Miss won last year at Oxford, 5-2, and LSU won this year in Baton Rouge, 7-0.

The Lady Tigers look to improve the winning streak to two in hopes to move on to the second round of the tournament in which they will face Florida.

LSU will attend an awards banquet Wednesday night at 7 p.m. where sophomore Megan Falcon will be honored as SEC Player of the Year.
