BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A total of 31 LSU student-athletes were named to the 2006-07 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced on Tuesday.
The nationally ranked LSU swimming and diving teams topped the list of teams with members on the Honor Roll, placing 13 women, including All-American and 2006 LSU Scholar-Athlete of the Year Hali Saucier, and seven men, including two-time All-American Julius Gloeckner, on the list. In addition, five members of the nationally ranked Tiger gymnastics team made the list, including two-time All-Americans Lisa Rennie and Kristi Esposito and All-American Kelly Phelan.
Five members of the Lady Tiger basketball Final Four team were honored, including All-SEC selection Quianna Chaney, Erica White and Ashley Thomas. Alex Farrer of the men’s basketball team was also selected.
A total of 341 student-athletes were named to the 2006-07 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll. The University of Florida topped the list with 53 student-athletes on the winter academic roster. The University of Tennessee was next with 41 honorees. The University of Georgia and the University of Kentucky were next in line with 37 and 36 winter student-athletes honored, respectively.
The 2006-07 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2006 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
