Women’s Tennis Plays Arkansas for SEC West Title

FAYETVILLE, Ark. — The LSU women’s tennis team concludes its regular season on the road against No. 59 Arkansas on Saturday at noon CT.

“I expect a very tough match, especially with one of Arkansas’ best players back in the lineup,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “We have been playing very solid and competing well and if we continue what we’re doing I think we have a great opportunity to win.”

The Lady Tigers (15-7, 5-5 Southeastern Conference) are coming off wins against Marshall, 6-1, and Prairie View A&M, 7-0, on Thursday at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium.

Sophomore Megan Falcon grabbed her 30th win of the season as she is undefeated in dual play in the No. 1 slot with a 20-match winning streak.

Freshman Nicole Kantor improved her record to 17-15 with wins on courts three and one on Thursday.

The Lady Razorbacks, (10-10, 3-7 SEC) are coming off a weekend split as they fell to Auburn and defeated Alabama, both by scores of 5-2.

Arkansas is led by No. 37 Ela Kaluder who is 15-5 in the No. 1 slot in dual play. They are 7-6 in matches at home, while LSU is 6-3 in matches on the road.

LSU has the advantage in the series over Arkansas, leading 17-9. LSU won the match at home in 2006 by a 5-2 decision.

This match-up concludes the regular season for LSU, which will begin play in the SEC Tournament on Thursday.
